Basil – Sweet Genovese

Sow in seed trays at 5mm deep; Transplant at 4 to 6 weeks; Plant spacing at 30cm; Germination period between 3 and 9 days; Soil temperatures between 23˚C and 30˚C; Harvest time approx. 80 days.

Basil is best sown in pots or trays and planted out at 4 to 6 weeks. A frost tender and low growing herb, it can be sown in doors and planted out when soil temperatures are warm. Best results are obtained in a sunny position, and well-drained soil with added compost. Pinch out the tops to encourage bushy growth, and pick flowers to prolong growth period.
