Cabbage – Red Express
A striling cabbage with rich purple pigmentation and excellent flavour. A compact plant that yields a cabbage head of 1 to 2 kg.
Sow 1-2cm deep; Sow at 10cm apart, and thin seedlings to 50-75cm apart; Germination period between 4 -7 days; Soil temperatures between 5˚C and 18˚C; Harvest time approx. 11-15 weeks.
Cabbage prefers well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter. Grows well in full sun, will tolerate part shade yet growth rates will slow. Needs plentiful and consistent moisture, is also classed as a heavy feeder. Cabbage has a shallow root system that needs protection, avoid shallow cultivation and protect roots with mulch.
