Eggplant – Early Long Purple

A delicate eggplant with tender flesh and long purple pendulous fruit. An early maturer with 8 to 12 fruits per plant. 

Sow 6mm deep in seed trays and plant out at 4 to 6 weeks; Plant spacing at 60 to 75cm; Germination period between 7 - 10 days; Soil temperatures between 24˚C and 32˚C; Harvest time approx. 12 to 15 weeks.

Eggplant needs a long growing season, so it’s best to start early in seed trays and plant out when the weather is warmer. Cool conditions will weaken plants and frost will kill them. Harden off seedlings before planting in the soil by reducing water and temperature. A cool season will see a reduced yield. If plants are heavily laden with fruit, stakes can provide some support. For best results, eggplants need a well-drained soil with high fertility and moderate watering.
