Lettuce - Great Lakes
Great Lakes is an heirloom lettuce with crunchy and succulent leaves. It is a garden favourite with its wide, frilled, and dark green leaves. An iceberg variety first introduced in the 1940s.
Season – all year; Sow 3mm deep; Plant spacing at 20cm apart; Sow rows at 35cm apart; Germination period between 6-10 days; Soil temperatures between 5˚C and 26˚C; Harvest time approx. 9-12 weeks.
Plant in well-drained, loose soil with consistent water. Needs daily water and shade in warmer weather to prevent a bitter flavour and bolting to seed.
