Season – late winter/ spring; Sow direct at 6mm deep; Plant spacing at 8 to 10cm apart; Rows at 50cm apart; Germination period between 21 - 28 days; Soil temperatures between 6˚C and 21˚C; Harvest time approx 17-20 weeks
Best grown in deep sandy, loamy soil. Keep moist until seedlings appear. Cold weather converts starch into sugars which gives the parsnip its best flavour. Germination of parsnip seed is poor, sow thickly as germination is irregular and thin seedlings to 8cm.
