Pumpkin - Queensland Blue

Queensland Blue is an Australian heirloom pumkin with blue-grey ribbed outer skin and rich orange flesh. An excellent full flavoured pumpkin, suitable to store for 4 to 5 months, yet goes mouldy quickly once cut.

Season – spring/ summer; Sow 3cm deep; Plant spacing at 90-120cm apart; Germination period between 5-10 days; Soil temperatures between 20˚C and 32˚C; Harvest time approx. 17-20 weeks.

Pumpkins have a large trailing plant structure with large, round shaped fruit.  They are inclined to take over a veggie patch, so grow in an area where they can spread out. They enjoy warm soil and are frost sensitive. For best results, grow in well drained, fertile soil high in organic matter. The addition of manure to the veg patch before planting is advisable as they are classed as a heavy feeder.  Consistent and plentiful moisture is also required.
